      1. I have a similar project, can we cooperate?

For sure! If you also use OpenStreetMap we’re already sharing all location data with you. If you want to help us develop FountainMap, talk to us. Anything else? Just contact us via Direct Message on this Wiki or via our Contact form on our website.

      1. Who is behind FountainMap?

FountainMap is an initiative of Florin Badita from OpenStreetMap Romania, a non-profit organization based in Romania.

      1. Are you planning for your site to be global?

Yes, since OpenStreetMap is a global project, the data of the entire world is on the map already. We are working to expand FountainMap beyond Romania using bounding box (bbox) queries to cover new regions.

      1. Do you plan on letting people post specific information about fountains?

Yes, we use a drinking water description tag that has been approved by OpenStreetMap.

      1. Is FountainMap intended to address just water fountains, or might you also cover other water sources?

We want to concentrate on drinking water fountains because they are essential in urban areas, but we also include other water sources such as springs, wells, and streams.

      1. What conventions do you use to tag places?

We use those which are approved by the OpenStreetMap community. See drinking_water=*. Simply put, it’s “yes” (safe to drink), “limited” (partly accessible, e.g., seasonal availability) and “no” (not safe). In the drinking_water:description=* tag we plan to store additional information about the water source. FountainMap users can also mark additional details using other relevant tags.

      1. How can I contribute?

- You can add locations to OpenStreetMap. - You can add drinking water fountain locations to OpenStreetMap by using [3](https://fountainmap.com) - You can help to translate the water source-related OpenStreetMap pages to your language, see Category:Drinking Water - You can help to translate the web portal [4](https://fountainmap.com) to your language. Contact us if you want to help!

      1. Statistics & Mission

The current number of tagged places grows steadily. Find the number in the lower left corner of [5](https://fountainmap.com)

Our mission is to collect a lot of data from all kinds of organizations. We are currently talking to many people in the government/administration area but also with some representatives of larger corporations too. Stay tuned!

      1. Is FountainMap fully open sourced?

Yes, we have open sourced the web app and some other tools we have made under the GPL-3.0 license. We are open to change the licence to be more permissive, contact us for more details.

      1. How can we identify FountainMap as a data source in OpenStreetMap?

The OpenStreetMap user needs to login using Oauth 2.0 (on osm, edits, contrib, heatmap, chngset com.) so his own user is used to enter new nodes on fountainmap.com. You can also track using the changeset, currently it's written as Go example, need to identify from where to change it
