Information About the Project

What is the problem that you are working to address in your community?

(In this section please describe in detail the challenge that your project addresses. We recommend your response be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.)

Many young girls in the Region face gender-related violence and poverty, which often force them to enter into prostitutions and crime to survive. Without access to good food, quality education and basic health care there is little opportunity to break free from these problems

What motivates you to work on this issue?

(what is the reason that triggered, inspired you to work on this issue, we recommend your response be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.)

One of the major concerns related to girls in the Region is education and protection with a number of families that fall below the poverty line. Young Girls become the unfortunate targets as we see the high drop-out rate, poor performance and early marriages. The most valuable educational tool for girls here is a bicycle and not a pen. The future will be different when girls get good education.

Have you worked on solving the same issue before?

Yes

If yes, what have you already done to solve this issue?

(Please be specific and highlight your greatest accomplishments, We recommend your response be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.) If none, write N/A

we did awareness creation in schools and families. We came up with an idea of the proposed Rent2Own Bicycles Project for Girls which will be run on credit initiative to ensure sustainability and creating the sense of ownership

If yes, what challenges have you faced in your work to solve this issue, and how did you respond to these challenges?

(Please be specific and highlight your biggest challenges and how did you solve them, We recommend your response be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.) If none, write N/A

The big challenge is lacking the much needed financial resources for most Parents and secondly is gender inequality when it comes to educating girls. They see as a waste of resources and prefer to see them getting married so that the family can get money

If no, what do you anticipate as challenges while working towards solving the issue?

(Please be specific and highlight the biggest challenge you might face when working on this project ,We recommend your response be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.)If none, write N/A

Parents' attitude towards educating girls. It is seen as a waste of resources and manpower. second challenge is resources in our part.

If you are applying for funding to purchase equipment, explain who will store/use the equipment you purchase, and if you have long term sustainability plans for your community's development. We recommend your response be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.)

The Project will be run on a credit initiative where Bicycles will be provided to students after agreed monthly payment of 3,000 Tsh. This monthly contribution will be used towards maintenance and sustainability As the Project progresses it is envisaged that We will enroll on more schools
