  • maybe it is possible to add the ability to draw the route underneath the ways - it's rather important to know on what type of way you are supposed to travel when hiking (Martin)
    • it is possible to draw the route dotted or dashed and with less opacity. that should help! --Gary68 10:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
  • to make it even clearer, there could be a short segment of the way type displayed in the directions list and/or the generic name for that type of Way (Martin)
    • hikingmap does not draw maps... of course to add the highway value is simple. --Gary68 10:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
  • on some detail maps, big polygons do not display because (I think) the maps are totally inside the polygons. However, these polygons do display in the overview map and we have the detail map's boundary information in the overview map - maybe it is possible to use it to determine which polygons should additionally be in the detail map's temp files even though they have no nodes in thier boundary? (Martin)
    • there are some variables ($extraMapData1 and $extraMapData2) in hikingmap that can help here. the cost is bigger maps. --Gary68 10:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
  • autoscale for detail maps (however - who cares about the page number of such a book and: will not the reader get confused over changing scales?)
