Minutes of meeting of the Training Working Group of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team

Meeting commenced at 19:00 UTC Monday 25th September 2017 using the Mumble server, but IRC monitored.

Present

John Whelan, Michael Heißmeier, Ralph Aytoun & Russell Deffner

Agenda

Trello board for Agenda <https://trello.com/b/ZYzEoama/hot-training-wg>

Finding more active contributors for our Working Group

Michael started with a list of tasks for new contributors based on the goals of the TrWG. Everyone is invited to add tasks or refine existing ones.

Other Business

John asked about translations for HOT-related wiki pages such as the African Highway Tagging guidelines. The discussion mainly pointed out that it would not be that easy to find all relevant pages because sometimes project managers produce one page with a couple of examples about how to tag in their specific project. These pages are not linked or tagged with HOT. Furthermore the wiki is part of the OSM ecosystem and subject to its rules where one cannot prohibit people from editing translated versions of the page. The situation is different with the HOT website which partially uses Transifex for translation management.

John also asked about mapping for the disabled as this is related to humanitarian context. Russell explained that there is a project called wheelmap which produced some tagging guidelines.
