Kanari is a free web map showing near real-time wildfire ignitions worldwide (official website: kanari.io). It combines thermal detections from satellites (NASA FIRMS/VIIRS, GOES, Meteosat MTG) with witness reports from social networks that are verified before display. The map also shows firefighting aircraft positions from ADS-B data and keeps a permanent archive page for each significant fire (detection chronology, radiative power, aircraft observed nearby).
The base map is rendered with MapLibre GL JS using CARTO tiles, which are built from OpenStreetMap data. Place names for fire locations come from the GeoNames gazetteer.
