Values

Optical Telescope dome-14.svg

Everything from infra red to ultra violet. This includes all the visible spectrum.

Questionable Tags

Solar Telescope dome-14.svg

Solar telescopes, sometimes called heliograph or photoheliograph are a special kind of optical telescope for observing the sun. Should these be tagged as optical telescopes? They certain should have the same or similar symbol.

Possible synonyms

  • telescope:type=phased_array ‒ This is a radio telescope. The phased array mechanism should be further sub-tagged, however such conflicting values are expected for a "de facto" or "in use" tag, especially for the ambiguous *:type=* key suffix. Observing statistics cursorily in July 2020, there are 251 telescope:spectrum=* tagging the spectrum more clearly and detailedly, compared to 1822 telescope:type=*

  • telescope:type=radar ‒ Telescopes are passive detectors. Radar are most commonly active radars, emitting a pulse of power to detect the returning reflection.
