The province of the object when it forms part of the address. This is used in certain countries where they are commonly used in addresses.
Regional usage
Canada
In Canada, this tag is set to use the two-letter Canada Post abbreviations of provinces, such as such as AB for Alberta, ON for Ontario, and QC for Quebec. Addresses in the territories (Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon) also use this tag, though they are technically not provinces.
Indonesia
Indonesian postal addresses usually do not list the province (provinsi), but addr:province=* can be set where they are used (province is optional for Indonesian addresses); where set, it takes the full name of the province instead of the abbreviation (Jawa Barat instead for Jabar for West Java). It may also be used on addresses in Jakarta (value: DKI Jakarta) and Special Region of Yogyakarta (value: Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta), though these are not provinces themselves.
Japan
For addresses in Japan, addr:province=* is set to the full name of prefecture (都道府県) including suffix (i.e. 県 ken for most prefectures, 都 to for Tokyo, 府 fu for the urban prefectures of Osaka Prefecture and Kyoto Prefecture, none for Hokkaido) written in Japanese.
Korea
For addresses in Korea, addr:province=* is set to the full province name including suffix (e.g. 도 do for most provinces) written in Korean in Hangul script. For example, an address in Gyeonggi in South Korea is set to addr:province=경기도. The province field is not used in some large cities such as Seoul, Daejeon and Busan, which compose province-level divisions themselves.
Philippines
For Philippine addresses, addr:province=* is set to the full province name; it may also be set to Metro Manila for addresses in Metro Manila (which is not a province but a region) but can be safely omitted. This field can be omitted from addresses in an independent city (highly urbanized cities and independent component cities) or cities named after an extant or former province (e.g. Cebu City, Davao City, Batangas City, Tarlac City).
