A boot scraper is an outdoor device where shoes and boots can be cleaned. They can often be found outside Georgian or Victorian buildings (residential, less often churches[1]), but also at the entrances of parks and national parks to prevent spreading invasive species or similar.

How to map

Because boot scrapers are very small features that are usually/ often associated either with an entrance door or an information sign, it is the safest practice to add the boot_scraper=* to the entrance=* or the node for tourism=information + information=board (or whatever applies).

If you want to indicate which site of the entrance the boot scrapers is at, going into the door, you can use boot_scraper=left/ boot_scraper=right/ boot_scraper=both.

If you want to add wikimedia links to an image of the boot scraper, use boot_scraper:wikimedia_commons=*, because the regular wikimedia_commons=* will be expected to show the entrance.

Some have already been mapped as free standing nodes with amenity=boot_scraper:

and amenity=boot_cleaner:
