construction_date=* is one of several keys to indicate the date the construction of the feature was finished.

By far the most widely used key, however, is start_date=*.

Formatting

Usually the date is written in YYYY-MM-DD format according to  ISO 8601. It is based on the  Gregorian calendar.

In the vast majority of cases only the year is given.
