This key can be used to add single checkpoints to a checkpoint network implemented and maintained by a public or private operator. A checkpoint network can be made up of all checkpoints following a predefined route or (independent from any route) of a certain area. For more details see Key:checkpoint.
How to map
To connect a checkpoint to a network add course=* to the existing checkpoint=* and use the name of the network as value. If the network does not have a specific name you can use the operators name instead.
Recommended alternative
A checkpoint network can also be created by adding the associated checkpoints to a type=network relation. This is the more general and therefore recommended approach and by doing so, it is not necessary and not recommendet to add course=* to every single checkpoint. For more details see "How to map checkpoint networks" [1].
Example
tourism=checkpoint checkpoint=hiking checkpoint:type=stamp name=Írott-kő (name of the checkpoint) course=Országos Kéktúra (name of the network) operator=Magyar Természetbarát Szövetség (name of the operator)
