Excipients are inactive ingredients in drugs or supplements, e.g., dyes, fillers, flavorants, etc. Excipients are often used enhance the appearance, taste or smell of supplements, or reduce their price, often at the expense of the unaware consumer's health.[1] For example, many synthetic Vitamin C supplements are colored yellow to look as if they were made out of lemons, but are also filled with ultra-processed seed oils, modified starch and other unhealthy ingredients. Some dyes like
E120 are even made out of insects, making products unsuitable for Muslims and vegans.
