The tag electrified=rail is used to specify that a railway is electrified with a third rail system. electrified:rail=* is used by OpenRailwayMap to indicate the contact type of the third rail.
A third rail is a method of providing electric power to a railway locomotive or train, through a semi-continuous rigid conductor placed alongside or between the rails of a railway track.
How to map
On a way
representing a railway with third rail, add electrified=rail. If the contact side of the rail is known, you can also add electrified:rail=top/side/bottom.
