mast:type=* is very uncommon and is unlikely to be understood by data consumers. tower:type=* is used for masts according to current OSM mapping practice. |

Tag history
Over half of all ever tagged mast:type=* were added by import or bot edit in early 2018[1], with organic growth being a minority. In comparison tower:type=* was gradual and therefore very likely to be in lesser part influenced by imports and bot edits[2].
In early 2022 and in 2020 large part of tag use was retagged[3].
