A name in Cape Verdean Creole (Kabuverdianu).

This tag is particularly useful for map elements in Cape Verde, since the official language is Portuguese, and thus the name in signs, and the official names of most places, are also in Portuguese, even though the native language of the majority of the population is Cape Verdean Creole.

Variants

Since there are regional variants of the language, use the one relevant to the location. For example:

• Santiago Santiago should be tagged name=Santiago + name:kea=Santiagu (i.e. using the Sotavento variant)
• São Vicente São Vicente should be tagged name=São Vicente + name:kea=Sãu Visent (i.e. using the Barlavento variant).

The names in the less prominent variants for the relevant element can be tagged with alt_name, e.g. alt_name:kea=Santiag and alt_name:kea=San Bisenti.

For places outside of Cape Verde, either use the variant relevant to the local Cape Verdean community (if there is one, and if a specific variant is dominant in it), or otherwise default to the Sotavento variant, which is spoken by the largest number of Cape Verdean speakers overall.
