The ref:GB:nhle tag is used to link objects in OpenStreetMap with their associated entry in The National Heritage List for England. The list, which is maintained by Historic England, includes Listed Buildings and Scheduled Monuments, amongst other nationally significant heritage assets.
Talk-GB (July & August 2021) discussed the older HE_ref=* tag as it duplicates the tagging scheme for heritage=*. It was agreed to prefer the use of ref:GB:nhle for the associated entry in The National Heritage List for England for heritage objects.
About Historic England
