Status: approvedPage for proposal

This key has been introduced to specify the (permanent) volume of water in a tank or pool as part of the proposal "Fire hydrant extensions part 2" [1] in 2017. It is a duplicate of water_tank:volume=* which has been introduced earlier (2012) without prior proposal.

Although never officially approved water_tank:volume=* has been used 15400 times as per 2026/02, compared to 434 uses of water_volume=*.

To avoid confusion the use of water_volume=* is not recommended. Consider using the more common water_tank:volume=* instead, or alternatively the generic capacity=* which can be applied to all kinds of storage tanks, including emergency water tanks and reservoirs.
