Stowarzyszenie OpenStreetMap Polska skupia obecnie 50 aktywnych członków oraz kilkutysięczną rzeszę sympatyków projektu (sam profil na Facebook-u (https://www.facebook.com/groups/500589303317858/) obserwuje prawie 4000 osób, a grupa przekroczyła 1000 osób). Codziennie aktywnie mapuje około 155 osób.
Polscy edytorzy działają na rzecz OSM od samych początków projektu. W 2011 roku powołane zostało Stowarzyszenie OSM Polska. Od dwóch lat obecny zarząd prężnie działa, żeby zaktywizować mapowiczów i propagować wiedzę o projekcie wśród coraz szerszego grona odbiorców. Działania te zaowocowały wstąpieniem do Stowarzyszenia w ostatnich trzech latach kilkudziesięciu nowych członków, którzy wspomogli je nowymi, świeżymi pomysłami. Chcemy ten trend co najmniej utrzymać. Dlatego tak ważne jest przyciąganie do projektu nowych sympatyków, z nowymi pomysłami i z nową, dobrą energią.
Edytorzy często zajmują się zarówno terenami swojego zamieszkania lub pracy, ale równie chętnie mapują konkretną tematykę. Są osoby, które z racji swojego zawodu czy zainteresowań skupiają się na sieci drogowej, są sympatycy dwóch kółek, którzy mapują sieć dróg rowerowych, jest też grupa strażaków, którzy projekt OSM używają jako platformy zbierania danych o hydrantach, które później wykorzystują w swojej pracy. Każdy może uzupełniać dane OSM jak uważa za słuszne i w zakresie, który będzie mu później potrzebny.
Jednak, żeby jakość danych była na odpowiednim poziomie musimy dbać o prawidłowe ich edytowanie. Oprócz licznych imprez promujących projekt i poszerzających wiedzę uczestników chcielibyśmy opracować podręcznik zbierający podstawowe tematy edycyjne. Sądzimy, że podręcznik, który chcemy opracować i wydać będzie komplementarnie współgrał z działaniami podejmowanymi w ramach naszego drugiego wniosku - projektu cyklicznego “Map Party on-line”.
The OpenStreetMap Association of Poland currently has 50 active members and a few thousand supporters of the project (the Facebook profile alone (https://www.facebook.com/groups/500589303317858/) is observed by almost 4000 people and our group has over 1000 members). Every day we have about 155 active mappers.
Polish editors have been working for the OSM since the very beginning of the project. In 2011 the OSM Association of Poland was established. Over the past two years the current board has been working hard to activate the mapmakers and promote knowledge about the project among an increasing number of recipients. These activities have resulted in several dozen new members joining the Association in the last three years, who have helped it with new, fresh ideas. We want to at leats maintain this trend. That is why it is so important to attract new supporters to the project, each carrying new ideas and new, good energy.
Editors often work in their home or work areas, but are also equally keen to map within specific topics. There are people who, because of their profession or interests, focus on the road network; there are two-wheelers who map the bicycle network; and there is a group of firefighters who use the OSM project as a platform for collecting data on hydrants, which they later use in their work. Anyone can supplement the OSM data as they see fit and to the extent that they need it later.
However, in order for the quality of data to be at the right level, we must take care to edit it correctly. Apart from numerous events promoting the project and broadening the knowledge of the participants, we would like to prepare a handbook gathering basic editing topics. We think that the handbook we want to develop and publish will be complementary to the activities undertaken under our second proposal – the cyclical project "Map Party on-line".
What do you need the grant money for?
We want to understand what you plan to buy, how much you plan to buy, and why this will help you to scale your community mapping efforts. There are two tables for you to fill in your response, and you may add more rows as needed. Some examples are in the table for your reference. You are welcome to use a different format in your response, but please make sure to include these details. Uważamy, że pomimo rozwoju komunikacji zdalnej, częściowo spowodowanego sytuacją epidemiczną na świecie, nie można rezygnować z formy drukowanej i tradycyjnego przekazu graficznego.
Liczne webinary, mapathony i inne spotkania zdalne nie zastąpią w całości tradycyjnego podręcznika drukowanego, który, szczególnie w środowisku szkół technicznych i uczelni wyższych (przynajmniej w Polsce) nadal pozostaje podstawowym źródłem wiedzy, a przynajmniej komplementarnym elementem edukacyjnym, do którego można sięgnąć w bibliotece i poza nią.
Dlatego chcielibyśmy przygotować i wydrukować podręcznik - kompendium wiedzy z podstaw edycji mapy OSM w języku polskim. Zawierałby on informacje o podstawach edycji, ciekawe konkretne przykłady edycji oraz uwagi jakich błędów unikać. Każda część zawierałaby również informację gdzie szukać rozwinięcia danego zagadnienia.
Od początku rozpowszechniania w Polsce wiedzy o projekcie brakuje podstawowej wiedzy o OSM zebranej w postaci tradycyjnego podręcznika. Chcemy to zmienić.
Plik będzie przygotowany w sposób umożliwiający ewentualny późniejszy dodruk.
Informację o dostępności podręcznika zamieścimy w naszych środkach przekazu. Będzie on rozsyłany w pierwszej kolejności do jednostek naukowych współpracujących z OSM oraz do osób, które się zwrócą do Zarządu OSM krótko uzasadniając chęć otrzymania tego materiału. Będzie również kolportowany w trakcie spotkań, szkoleń i warsztatów (po ustaniu zagrożenia epidemiologicznego).

We believe that despite the development of remote communication, partly caused by the epidemic situation in the world, the printed form and traditional graphic message cannot be abandoned.
Numerous webinars, mapathons and other remote meetings will not completely replace the traditional printed textbook, which, especially in the environment of technical schools and universities (at least in Poland), still remains a basic source of knowledge, or at least a complementary educational element that can be reached in and outside the library.
Therefore, we would like to prepare and print a textbook – a compendium of knowledge about the basics of OSM map editing in Polish. It would contain information about the basics of editing, interesting examples, and also notes on what mistakes to avoid. Each part would also contain information on where to look for further information about a given issue.
Since the beginning of the sharing of knowledge about the project in Poland, there is a lack of basic knowledge about OSM collected in the form of a traditional textbook. We want to change that.
The file will be prepared in a way that allows for possible later reprinting.
We will post the information about the availability of the textbook in our media. It will be sent first to the scientific units cooperating with the OSM and to people who will turn to the Management Board briefly justifying their wish to receive this material. It will also be distributed during meetings, trainings and workshops (once the epidemiological threat has ceased).

Wydanie podręcznika i jego dystrybucja pozwoli dotrzeć z informacją o projekcie OSM do szerszego grona osób, szczególnie w obrębie szkół wyższych. Dystrybucja podręcznika jako materiału szkoleniowego na spotkaniach edukacyjnych oraz udostępnianie go chętnym edytorom pomoże utrwalać nabytą wiedzę, usystematyzować ją i pokazać gdzie szukać dalszych informacji w procesie samokształcenia.
Mamy nadzieję, że łatwy dostęp do zawartych w podręczniku podstawowych zasad edycji danych OSM zachęci nowe osoby, przede wszystkim w gronie studentów, do zostania edytorami oraz pozwoli zminimalizować ilość błędów popełnianych przez początkujących edytorów.
Materiał powstały w trakcie prac nad podręcznikiem posłuży do przygotowania e-podręcznika.
Dystrybucja obejmie na początku zaprzyjaźnione ośrodki edukacyjne (między innymi Uniwersytet Łódzki, UAM Poznań, Uniwersytet Warmińsko - Mazurski, Technikum Geodezyjne w Poznaniu). Następnie prześlemy informację o dostępności materiału do innych wybranych ośrodków naukowych z profilem kartograficznym.
Podręcznik będzie mógł być używany w trakcie szkoleń prowadzonych przez członków Stowarzyszenia OSM Polska oraz dystrybuowany w trakcie licznych spotkań, w których biorą udział członkowie Stowarzyszenia - GisDay, konferencje (Qgis), Map Party oraz na wnioski edytorów skierowane bezpośrednio do Zarządu OSM.
Szacujemy, że w ciągu roku, w trakcie różnych spotkań, członkowie Stowarzyszenia przeszkolą około 300 osób. Dodatkowo materiały będą przekazywane nauczycielom akademickim do użycia w trakcie zajęć kartograficznych oraz dostarczane członkom stowarzyszenia do rozprowadzania w swoich społecznościach. Będziemy również przesyłać podręcznik na prośbę zainteresowanych edytorów.
The publication and distribution of the textbook will allow the information about the OSM project to reach a wider range of people, especially within the universities. Distribution of the textbook as training material at educational meetings and making it available to willing editors will help to consolidate the acquired knowledge, systematize it and show where to look for further information in the self-education process.
We hope that easy access to the basic rules of editing OSM data contained in the textbook will encourage new people, especially students, to become editors and will allow to minimize the number of mistakes made by beginners.
The material created during the work on the textbook will be used to prepare the e-textbook.
The distribution will initially include our friendly educational centres (among others, University of Lodz, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, University of Warmia and Mazury, Poznań School of Geodesy). Next, we will send information about the availability of the material to other selected research centers with cartographic profile.
The handbook can be used during training sessions conducted by members of the OSM Association of Poland and distributed during numerous meetings attended by members of the Association: GisDay, conferences (Qgis), Map Party. In addition, the textbook will be made available on request of the editors directly to our Board.
We estimate that during the year, during various meetings, members of the Association will train about 300 people. Additionally, the materials will be given to academic teachers for use during cartographic classes and delivered to the members of the Association for distribution in their communities. We will also send the handbook at the request of interested editors.

Stowarzyszenie OSM Polska w 2020 roku wystąpiło z 1 wnioskiem do OSMF. Aktualnie nie otrzymujemy żadnego innego dofinansowania. Bieżącą działalność prowadzimy tylko w oparciu o składki członkowskie w wysokości 30 zł/rok i darowizny członków Stowarzyszenia.
The OSM Association of Poland has submitted one application to the OSMF in 2020. Currently, we do not receive any other funding. Current activities are conducted only from membership fees of 30 PLN/year and donations from members of the Association.
