Data Merge Workflow

Workflow

Step by step instructions

  1. Open the GBFS feed.
  2. Download the station information JSON file.
  3. Convert it to an XLSL file.
  4. Clean the resulting XLSL file.
  5. Convert into a CSV and open in QGIS.
  6. Save as a GEOJSON.
  7. Apply the correct tags (see above).

Changeset size policy

In JOSM, upload objects in chunks of size: 9000.

Revert plans

If ever something goes wrong, the JOSM/Plugins/Reverter plugin will be used.

Conflation

  1. Open the file obtained from the workflow in JOSM.
  2. Query Overpass for "bicycle_rental"="docking_station" and add as a new layer.
  3. In the conflation plugin, add the layer from step 1 as the reference (select all).
  4. Make the live data layer active and select type:way.
  5. Select adjacent nodes.
  6. Invert selection and freeze as subject in conflation plugin.
  7. Modify the parameters of the plugin to: disambiguation; standard; 40 m; merge tags. Do not replace geometry.
  8. Conflate the "Reference only" matches (an automated edit to existing stations' tags is outside the scope of this import and will be done at a later date (is now completed)).

Note: stations which no longer exist were removed at a later date. Please see here.
