NIMBY Rails is a sandbox video game for Windows. Players can build a railway network anywhere on Earth.
Uses of OpenStreetMap
OpenStreetMap (OSM) is used for streets, buildings and other points of interest. The player has to build railway tracks around existing infrastructure or face additional costs when building tunnels or viaducts.
The game uses a custom vector map format with the file ending nrmap. There seems to be no documentation for this seemingly proprietary format. Its advantages for the game have been described in a blog article: https://carloscarrasco.com/nimby-rails-september-2021/
