Navigation Data Standard

The Navigation Data Standard (NDS) is the aim to create a new standard for maps to provide one file format for all navigation devices.

File Structure

the planet is devided into small areas. Each of them includes a database with all information (map, pois, tmc, drm, ...). This allows an incremental update by area.


  • incremental data (map, poi, ...) update
  • update e.g. over the air
  • DRM
