National Trail

September 11th National Memorial Trail

New York's (rather short) segment of the "9-11 Trail" connects "Ground Zero" at the World Trade Center Memorial to the remainder of this national-level bike-and-hike trail via ferry (at Vesey Green to Paulus Hook in New Jersey) as well as north along west Manhattan to Fort Washington Park Greenway at West 181st Street. Portions of the Trail (not in New York) are unpaved (on gravel- or dirt-surfaced infrastructure).

Canalway Trail

The (Erie) Canalway Trail connects Buffalo to Albany, generally following the route of the Erie Canal. Currently about 2/3 complete, it ultimately is supposed to be 524 miles in length and generally follow the Erie, Oswego, Cayuga-Seneca, and Champlain canals before coming to the Corning Preserve on the Albany river front. It is the eastern most part of the (Erie) Canalway Trail.

New York Bike Route 5

New York Bike Route 5 is a 365 mile route running from Niagara Falls to the Massachusetts/New York Line, generally following NY highways 5, 20 and 31, roughly paralleling the route of the Erie Canal.

New York Bike Route 9

New York Bike Route 9 is a 345 mile route running from Clinton County in the Adirondack Mountains south to New York City. It generally follows Lake Champlain and the Hudson River.

Dutchess Rail Trail

The Dutchess Rail Trail runs east from Poughkeepsie, NY to Hopewell Junction. A connection to the Poughkeepsie Rail Bridge is scheduled for completion in 2010.

Hudson Valley Rail Trail

The Hudson Valley Rail Trail runs along abandoned Penn Central right-of-way on the west side of the Hudson River near Poughkeepsie, New York. A connection to the Poughkeepsie Rail Bridge is scheduled for completion in 2010.

Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail

The Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail is a 35 mile multi-use trail which runs from Rotterdam Junction, New York along the Mohawk River to Cohoes and then south along the Hudson River.

Uncle Sam Bikeway
