Rendering bus stop symbols

It would be really great if OSM-Carto (and others too) would manage to render a bus stop symbol as a point for areas and especially for ways with public_transport=platform. Now one could say that this has not much to do with this proposal. But yes: The reason why highway=bus_stop is still used, especially in Europe, is often (not always but often) due to just one thing: so that a punctoformal bus stop sign can be rendered.
