Hello BoAbney, I'm hearing this word the first time in my life as a non-native English speaker. So chances are small people know what the term means when editing the map. Is there something more common like "marker"? Is "blaze" specific to trails? "Markers" can also be found on roads marking the end of the lane as a reflective strap on the poles. Having something more general would suit both.
