Natales is a town in Provincia de Última Esperanza, Región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena, Chile at latitude 50°45′50.40″ South, longitude 73°50′42.00″ West.

Description

This single municipality is huge (about 500 km in longitude and 1000 km in latitude) and includes lot of islands (most of them are protected as part of national parks, along the the north of the continental part).

The municipality has a very low density and its main center of population is the small town of Puerto Natales to the South-East.

Transport

Accessible either by:

• a very long maritime road by ferry though narrow glaciary fjords and between coastal islands;
• the airport Teniente Jullio Galardo;
• the easiest access roads to the region from the rest of the country are passing via Argentina.
