Page creations

Hi Lightcyphers,

I saw that you recently created a lot of pages for areas and cities in Romania. What do you intent to use these pages for?

Kind regards, --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 17:56, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Ok, you answered me per email, but could you please also state your reasons here, so that other wiki users can read them? I do not want to copy our emails here because I do not have your consent, but if you want to do it, I am okay with that as long as you do not disclose my email address. --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 11:53, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

May I ask you to put here our conversation because I had removed the mail. Thank you. --Anatolie  Thu Nov 29 10:41:23 EET 2018

Hi,
regarding pages created in Romania. From our observation It's simpler to keep track on data sources and features to map when you have isolated pages for that.
We did the same for Moldova project and for instance keep there lists of streets. Our plan is to empower local communities. Also we plan to maintain all these pages, not just create and let them be there empty.
Is there any limitations in terms of database resources or something which constrain us from creating many pages? or you are just worried about creation and letting them orphan.

Hi,
There is a limitation regarding the speed of page creation and modification, but you are "slow enough". If you hit the boundary, the server will become very slow.
Yes, I was worried about creation and the lack of maintaining these pages. It is great to hear that you will use and maintain them. If you add open data sources that can be used for OSM, please link to the pages from "Ro:Permissions" (page does not exist yet, but the other language versions list their data sources there).
Good luck for your project.

Thank you for the information. We will do so but I don't think it's 'fit all cases' scenario, because sometimes it's just webpage of small village where we gather pieces of information and then it's worth to list it on dedicated pages that we just created.
