The logo which will be selected from the contest will be displayed here that will represent the program theme and culture.

Logo Design

The State of the Map Asia Working Group is pleased to announce the call for logo designs. We need your spontaneous participation to build a strong recognizable logo for State of the Map Asia 2019 taking place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a tentative date of November 1-2, 2019.

We put together this Design Brief (borrowing from the SotM) that outlines what we are looking for in a logo. Entrants could be an individual or a team of people, even a design company. By submitting a logo you will be assigning your copyright to OSMBDF so that it can be used across different mediums. Participants are requested to submit their logos through a certain link that has been indicated in this page. No entries will be considered as eligible after the submission date and time.

How to enter

Create your logo in vector graphics format e.g., SVG. If you're not used to scalable formats please still enter the competition as we can try to help. Submit your logo entries given in the following link.

Distribution

The SotM Asia website (State of the Map Asia-2019), flyers, emails, sponsor communications, T-shirts and potentially other conference ‘swag’ like fabric or plastic bags, keychains, pens, etc. Printed material at the conference such as timetable of talks, notebooks, banners and conference guide. Potentially small web-based button images for use on third party websites to promote the conference or in any media content that shows someone is speaking there, for placement on blogs and other web pages.

Design

The design MUST Include themes for Bangladesh, priority color should include red and green and another one color that goes with the color choice. Be easily printable on T-shirts with as few colors as possible (no more than 3). The T-shirt color will be green also. So make sure to adjust the logo with the color. It is to be delivered in scalable format (e.g.SVG). It should not include copyrighted material that is not yours The design may be color-negated so that black is white, white is black, etc. Come in different sizes (example: the main logo and a variant for use on small print media such as badges).

The design should not

  • Represent a corporate/big business (as the sole element)
  • Communicate complexity
  • Communicate anything expensive
  • Appear for-geeks-only
  • Communicate closed community

Winning Logo:

After a long waiting we have finally got the logo that identifies our stands for State of the Map Asia 2019. The logo that has been selected for the SotM Asia 2019; was submitted by a student of United International University (UIU) Bangladesh. He is known as Saikat Kumar Saha, coming from a background of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The logo defines our culture, our pride, dynamics in Dhaka city and a very age old tradition. It portraits a larger portion of Dhaka city population, that symbolizes the people's movement. It's a city that never sleeps. The winning logo goes as follows:
