A  lagoon is a body of shallow sea water or brackish water separated from the sea by a continuous barrier.

The tag water=lagoon is used with natural=water for bodies of salt or brackish water which are not directly connected to the sea. Some features which are called a "lagoon" or a related term are instead mapped as areas outside of the natural=coastline if they have a direct connection to the sea. In this case natural=bay is usually used instead of natural=water

It's best to specify saltness of water with salt=yes/no.

How to map

Draw the outline area of the lagoon and add natural=water + water=lagoon.
