Status: in use

Specifies that a location is most known for its coffee, even if it may serve other types of food.

How to map

  • Generally cuisine=coffee_shop is used in combination with amenity=cafe. This would apply to any Starbucks branch for example.
  • In other specific cases, it can be added to other amenities. For example, when looking at a "fast-food" which is famous for its coffee rather than its food, like Tim Hortons in Canada, cuisine=coffee_shop can be used in combination with amenity=fast_food.

Tags to use in combination

General

Internet access

Note: when tagging an internet cafe, refer to amenity=internet_cafe.

Drinks

  • drink:espresso=*: if espresso is available, tag served or takeaway. Otherwise use no.
  • drink:filter_coffee=*: if filter coffee (this can be pour-over, AeroPress, Chemex, Kalita etc.) is available, use served or takeaway. Otherwise use no.

Others

Note: when tagging a small coffee roasting business, use craft=coffee_roaster as the main tag for the amenity instead.
