The letter D in this diagram marks the locations of ravelins in a star fort or bastion fort.

How to map

Place a node node at the centre or draw an area area along the outlines of the ravelin and tag it with defensive_works=ravelin.

Tags used in combination

  • name=* - if the ravelin is named. Do not use the name of the fortification to tag individual bastions.
  • ref=* - for the number of the ravelin, if it has one.
  • heritage=* - if the ravelin has a heritage status. If only the entire fortification has a heritage status, do not use heritage tags for individual ravelins.
  • start_date=* - year of commission
