This is a first draft to document this tag. It is mostly used on linear ways. Ramparts are linear barriers of bank or wall, usually broad-topped and made from earth or masonry or a combination of both, that are part of the defensive boundary of a fortified site.

Direction

The direction of ways may matter. Usually in OSM the right side of the way is the lower or outer side, while the left side is the inner or upper side.
