This tag is used on provincial highways in the Canadian province of Alberta numbered 1 to 216, formerly and colloquially referred to as primary highways. Highways 1 and 16, the Trans-Canada Highways and Yellowhead Highway respectively, use Trans-Canada Highway shields and are tagged with network=CA:transcanada instead. For Alberta provincial highways numbered 500 to 986, formerly and colloquially referred to as secondary highways, network=CA:AB:secondary is used.
