Named state highways in Oregon are a network of state maintained roads and highways, defined by the Oregon state legislature and maintained by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ORDOT). The system was established in 1917. These highways are almost never identified on maps or guide signage, and are signed as Oregon Routes, U.S. Highways, and Interstates instead. In many cases, the numbers assigned to named highways do not reflect the posted signed routes. In the case of Oregon Routes and U.S. Highways, signed routes do not always follow legislatively defined state maintained highways and may be posted along locally maintained roads.
