Status: de facto

A relatively smooth surface paved with dried clay bricks. The gaps between individual brick are generally very narrow in order to form an even, closed surface.

Bricks are commonly laid in a running, stack or herringbone pattern.

Dried clay bricks were widely used to pave pedestrian streets in many European countries, especially in historical centres.

Note that the tag "brick" in its singular form is also widely used (taginfo).

Some people treat bricks as special case of paving stones and use surface=paving_stones (material=brick can be used to mark them as made out of brick)
