What is the Sens behind this?

Well, perhaps i have misunderstood something, in this case sorry bothering you. But i am wondering, what the sens is collecting and assembling a worldmap under the license CC-BY (yes, i know some peoples likes it) but if somebody wants to use it (and i guess this is the purpose...) and for example likes to use a map of London (or any other big town) or only a region (like me), with hundreds to ten-thousands of nodes (Whose node is it?), how can somebody deal with that kind of license? Not even mentioning the problem extracting them.... (http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=1289) DanSy 20:05, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

You're were obviously confused, and I'm not really surprised. This page should have explained things a lot better. Looks like Richard has clarified things for you on this forum discussion -- Harry Wood 11:47, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Merge with Contributors

Strangely we've ended up with some very similar information (but not exactly the same) on the "Contributors" page, hence I'm going to redirect there to eliminate the duplication.

However if anyone wants to recreate a page called "Attribution" later, this could be worth doing. It should be an explanation of "Attribution" as part of Category:Legal information, explaining what is required (what we think may be required, or what some people may require, or what we are not really sure about) However right now is bad time to be writing such a page since our Attribution requirements are about to change (see Open Data License/Implementation Plan)

This page should not be a page where people give attribution in some semi-complete list of organisations donating data. That's the Contributors page at the moment (although I until now I only knew about the Import/Catalogue ...more duplication!)
