The way wiki admins monitors the changes

every single edit to wikipedia articles are logged in a irc channel. A Java tool (Vandalfigher) connect the channel and display the edits in a readable way, with alarms about "possible vandalism".
In my POV a similan tool should permit me to define a series of bound boxes where i want to be informed about modifies. I should define tresholds to have alarms (maximum displacement of a node, maximum node modify in x sec for single users...) --EdoM (lets talk about it) 14:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah it's quite interesting that they settled on that approach. IRC seems like an odd technology choice, but it works. I guess it was about keeping the strain off their server. -- Harry Wood 16:49, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
