Most of the time what is required is the base map. A quick map of main infrastructure is the most important help HOT can deliver for operational humanitarian actions.
According to specific needs of the requesting organisations, HOT can aim at more detailed mapping. Of course everyone must be aware that detailed mapping (eg. down to individual buildings) is more time- and resource-consuming. Feasibility depends then on the size and density of the area, time frame, availability of imagery, expected return and output.
Even more specialised mapping (eg. damage assessment in case of natural disaster) must be carefully planned and directed.
