Exaggerated comparison in "problem" section

The section describing vanilla JOSM tools makes them look worse than they are, imo. In particular:

• Using Extrude (instead of drawing and orthogonalizing the outline) reduces the number of clicks.
• You can add building=yes to all your buildings at once when you're finished drawing them.

I guess the reason for this is that the page was written in 2009, when JOSM was not yet quite as powerful. But perhaps an update is in order to make the comparison more fair? --Tordanik 16:27, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

True, but it's fair to say that this plugin still makes it faster and easier to add buildings than using default JOSM anyway. But page is quite outdated, so it definitely needs a proper refresh. Will maybe even improve it myself a bit - Polovinkin (talk) 13:32, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

Documentation is extremely outdated and inconsistent comparing with current state of the plugin

It seems that plugin was updated since the article is written, but for some reason author decided not to keep docs up-to-date while making those changes - which makes it quite challenging to understand how to use it now. It's especially a shame as it's indeed a very handy plugin which I just started and will continue to use.

Just comparing docs and plugin itself, and it's all over the place:

• There is no option "Round buildings", now you can select either rectangle or circle option.
• Addressing is actually "Use Address Dialog"
• There is "Auto-select building" in docs, while "Auto-select replaces existing selection" in plugin. Is it even the same thing?
• There is just no "Direction nodes" setting in plugin
• "Use address nodes under the building" - it's in the plugin, but nothing in the docs, so no clear info on what is it

Advanced submenu:

• "Custom tags" is now "Building tags"
• "Direction way" option is in docs, but doesn't actually exist
• "Disable click+drag" is in the plugin but not documented at all, so unclear what it does
• The same goes for "Switch between circle and rectangle modes" - nothing in docs, while it's in the plugin. Is it somehow connected to rectangle or circle option in main settings?...

I will change the doc to reflect some of those differences, at least something to make it less confusing.

well, I spent quite some time and finally hugely updated and improved the whole article based on current plugin state. added missing info and added better descriptions, especially about 2-click logic, so now it should be drastically better and helpful as a reference. also now has answers to questions mentioned here - Polovinkin (talk) 15:53, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
