Talk:Key:display surface

Tag info shows the values for this tag are usually numbers. What are the default units? Square meters? Does this describe the area of the display in terms of the quantitative area (eg m^2, cm^2, ft^2, etc) or the number of areas, or something else.—Aenet (talk) 20:02, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

The discussion at Talk:Map_features/Units#Surface_area tends to recommend square meters.

In some cases, mappers have confused this tag with surface=* and provided values like "concrete". I would prefer this concept to be aligned with building:floor_area=*. It might be better to call the tag surface_area=* or display_area=*. Biff (talk) 11:31, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
