Doddle shop in the UK

I came across a "doddle" shop, in the UK, in London. I decided to use this amenity=post_pickup tag for the moment, although I'm not sure about it. I see a few other people have mapped doddle: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/zfX . Currently there's some with amenity=post_office, some with no top level tag.

It seems problematic to use amenity=post_office, because that still means a specific organisation in this country. I'm not sure if that's a good reason to use a different tag.

Mailboxes Etc

"Mailboxes Etc" is a brand in London. Not sure if these are for parcel pickup, but again it's a thing which is some kind of post office but not the "post office" organisation:

Proposed features/Parcel lockers and parcel postbox

Hi,

There is new, more detailed proposal for such amenities: Proposed features/Parcel lockers and parcel postbox. Would you like to join it and for example merge your proposal? --Kocio (talk) 03:43, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Reject the tag? + automatic cleanup

Overflorian (talk) 08:21, 21 September 2021 (UTC) Considering that amenity=post_pickup is used 69 times in the world (stat on 21 sept. 2021) and that the alternative tag vending=parcel_pickup combined with amenity=vending_machine is used more than 10 000 times (stat on 21 sept. 2021), I believe that it's time to consider that vending=parcel_pickup is dead.

I just made that switch for France (65 objects modified using overpass on 21 sept. 2021). This change is now also documented for train stations in France.

I now suggest

  1. to reject the tag amenity=post_pickup once and for all
  2. make the switch worldwide
  3. make a pray for that live-long tag!
