Note that you voted both for, against and abstained at Proposed features/consulate general. You need to remove two of unintentional votes Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:29, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you Mateusz, I fixed that Overflorian (talk) 08:48, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Change status of Proposed features/consulate general

Could you change the status of your proposal? People are still adding their vote despite having passed the proposed voting period.

Hi, it's now a job done. Overflorian (talk) 15:26, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

parcel_pickup or parcel_locker

Hi! Thank you for updating template vending [[1]] with this comment:

'parcel_pickup:desc=Do not use. Replaced by amenity=parcel_pickup'

But I have one question. Do you sure if it should be parcel_pickup? I could see there exists amenity=parcel_locker --Bigopenmac (talk) 08:44, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Hello, thanks for your question. Indeed, you are right, you should use amenity=parcel_locker. It's mistake, sorry about that. Please do change it yourself on the page. Regards Overflorian (talk) 09:58, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Missing file information

Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.

Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.

Are you the author of image File:Audio beacon.gif ?

Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?

Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ".

Doing this would be already very useful.

Licensing - photos

In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?

In case where it is a photo you (except relatively rare cases) author can make it available under a specific free license.

Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?

Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?

If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.

You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.

Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified February 2022}} from the file page.

Licensing - other images

If it is not a photo situation gets a bit more complicated.

See Drafts/Media file license chart that may help.

note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.

note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.

Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.

Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.

Help

Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.

Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).

If you are interested in wider discussion about handling licencing at OSM Wiki, see this thread.

Hi, I uploaded this picture 7 years ago. I honestly have no memory at all where it comes from. Probably directly from Google so it should be under copyright. I don't mind deleting it. I added a tag to do so, what would be the next step? --Overflorian (talk) 07:50, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for a quick reply! I removed its sole use on Wiki, now one of sysops will delete it (often happens with some delay - month or two). If you have file watchlisted it will appear on watchlist Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:44, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
You can review also other files from https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Mateusz_Konieczny/notify_uploaders/Overflorian - it would be really appreciated Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:44, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
I added to all the other pictures the tag CC-BY-SA-4.0-self. It was easy as I took myself all these pictures. Thanks for bringing that up. --Overflorian (talk) 09:40, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Derivative work

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Parcs_montrouge.jpg is actually tricky. It is your photo, but it is a derivative work. Specifically, copyright to this file is hold by you (photo author) and whoever holds copyright to this map. What worse, typical solution is sadly not available in France due to law being worse in France than in most European countries (see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Freedom_of_panorama ).

Is there any indicator that this map is freely licensed? Or that copyright holder agreed (or will agree) to CC BY-SA 4.0 or something open like this? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 04:08, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Plan_cimeti%C3%A8re_montrouge.jpg has the same problem - even if that is on information board placed outside, then due to bad French law permission from copyright holder of the map is still needed (unless it is not qualifying for copyright or it expired) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 04:21, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi, thank you for bringing up these issues. I admit that if we would like to be legally strict about licensing, we should not use these pictures. Nevertheless I uploaded them anyway because the city council is aware of our local community mapping in order to collaboratively produce https://osmontrouge.fr and they orally agreed that we use these maps. In this context, I recommend that we keep using these files. --Overflorian (talk) 07:18, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

SotM 2023 bid

Hi. Thanks for adding a bid to State of the Map 2023/Call for venues#Bids! Can I ask you to move the content to a dedicated subpage for your bid? For example, see how it was done last year: State of the Map 2022/Call for venues/Florence. For your bid it could be best to create the page at State of the Map 2023/Call for venues/Paris.

Hi, it's doneː https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/State_of_the_Map_2023/Call_for_venues/Paris. Cheers. Overflorian (talk) 11:06, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
Perfect, thanks a lot! -- Tyr (talk) 17:12, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Missing file information

Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.

Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.

Are you the creator of image File:«OSM y luego GTFS» o «GTFS y luego OSM».jpg ?

Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?

Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ" or "this is map generated from OpenStreetMap data and SRTM data" or "map generated from OSM data and only OSM data" or "This is my work based on file -link-to-page-with-that-file-and-its-licensing-info-" or "used file downloaded from internet to create it, no idea which one".

Doing this would be already very useful.

Licensing - photos

In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?

In case where it is a photo you have taken then you can make it available under a specific free license (except some cases, like photos of modern sculptures in coutries without freedom of panorama or taking photo of copyrighted artwork).

Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?

Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?

If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.

You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self|Overflorian}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.

Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified 2022, August}} from the file page.

Licensing - other images

(sorry if I missed something that already states license and source: I am looking through over 20 000 files and fixing obvious cases on my own, in other I ask people who upladed files, but it is possible that I missed something - in such case also please answer)

which CC-BY-SA

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:%E2%80%9EErst_OSM,_dann_GTFS%E2%80%9C_und_%E2%80%9EErst_GTFS,_dann_OSM%E2%80%9C.jpg mentions CC-BY-SA as license as footer - but is it stating anywhere which version applies? Or is it somehow reasonably guessable? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:47, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi, it's fixed, thanks. Overflorian (talk) 07:18, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Authorship

Are you author of https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Tunnel.png photo? If yes, can you mark it as released by you, as an author, under a free license? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:26, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

--Overflorian (talk) 14:14, 27 July 2023 (UTC) It's done. Regards.
