How is this article related to OSM? maro21 23:03, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi thanks for the question, I'm always interested in helping out people who are new and not yet know much about mapping activities and how it all works.
But in all good faith let me try to explain some of the core principles of mapping activities:
- gather data (digital or written)
- acquire knowledge (any knowledge that can be put on a map or even the knowledge how to do that)
- survey areas (photos, notes, video, any other media)
some of that media is aerial imagery like satellites and drones.
This kind of surveyed data serves then the purpose to draw polygons on a map as accurate as the data on the imagery is.
So any technique and setup and information that serves the purpose to improve the accuracy of that data, to be used for polygons on a map - is extremely valuable for any mapper both hobbyist and experienced professional geodetic engineer.
Hope this brief answer helps a bit how good accurate aerial imagery is very related to mapping activities such as on OpenStreetMap.
If you like to know more please do read the article, you may also consult other wiki pages which describe other parts of how aerial imagery and all the bells and whistles that come with it are related to mapping activities:
https://openaerialmap.org/
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Using_aerial_imagery
If you have any further questions or still have a hard time to understand how proper drone surveying helps mapping activities please do feel free to ask. You can PM me for any more information how aerial images, and the techniques involved in getting proper aerial images are being used in the mapping community.
Also please read more on OpenStreetMap - it's much more than just a map! It's a database and with it comes also the whole technical stuff of course how to setup databases, how to use them, how to support mapping activities with setting up your own servers, etc. It's really fun everything that involves mapping activities. Even things like creativity to create images, icons, vector art, it's all related to OpenStreetMap for creating our own rendering styles, showing artworks like traffic signs on a map - so if you're interested please do reach out to the community and ask around, for any field of expertise there's always something you can do!
Even editing wiki pages and correcting grammar and styling of wiki pages, some people are really good at it.
Either way - the community is happy for newcomers like you to join and contribute :) -- Hike&Map 23:32, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
Despite your long answer, this still doesn't answer my question. What is this article about and how does it relate to OSM or mapping or tagging? We are not Wikipedia and an article with mathematical formulas doesn't fit here. maro21 23:07, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I'm sorry if you don't understand how improving data for OpenStreetMap isn't or is related to OpenStreetMap - I hope maybe someone else can explain to you then how improving data for OpenStreetMap is related to OpenStreetMap.

I thought it's common sense, improving the data for OpenStreetMap is related to OpenStreetMap.

If A is an element of the collection ABC, then A is related to both B and C as well to the collection ABC.

Not sure why that is not understandable, but that's the best I can tell you.

If a Son is related to his father, and the father is related to his brother, then the son is related to the brother of the father.. again if that's too hard to understand - then I'm beyond the capabilities of explaining how improving data for OpenStreetMap is related to OpenStreetMap
