ChatGPT guff

At https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/pull/4319#issuecomment-1792760386 https://github.com/mmd-osm says "I've added a fair amount of ChatGPT generated content". Does this actually help in any way? If someone doesn't know what rate limiting is they're hardly going to read an OSM wiki page about how OSM implements rate limiting, are they? We're thinking about adding a link to this wiki page as part of the OSM API error message, so that a JOSM user could look up more details why their upload has failed.
ChatGPT content is gone now, so I consider this topic to be resolved now. mmd (talk) 16:51, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

too generic title

Maybe "Editing rate limit" or similar would be better? Rate limits appear in numerous places in OSM ecosystem, for example in Overpass Turbo Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 17:32, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Like mentioned in my previous reply to @SomeoneElse, we're reyling on a stable URL to be included in the OSM API response. It doesn't help if people start moving the page around every week b/c they don't like the page title. If this doesn't work, we'll need to start looking for some other options, including not adding a link to the error message at all. mmd (talk) 18:43, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

break

"If you got this error, it is usually best to take a break from mapping and try to upload your changes again a bit later." - brand new users may also hit case where their maximum possible rate limit will not allow edit to be posted, right? In such case splitting it into parts would be probably better Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 14:22, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
