Discuss Road signs in the United Kingdom here:

Road sign images on the DfT site

The UK Department for Transport has a site for downloading road sign images. Weirdly it's presented as a shopping site. You do 'add to basket' but it doesn't charge you. PDF JPEG and EPS formats.

"Traffic signs are Crown copyright" boo! (...also ...why?)

However, the terms and conditions on that website (see http://www.dft.gov.uk/trafficsignsimages/tc.php) state that the images can be used freely (with certain conditions):

"Terms and conditions for reproducing images of traffic signs

Traffic signs are Crown copyright. They are part of legislation (Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002, often referred to as TSRGD). The numbers in the image filenames relate to the TSRGD numbering.

You may reproduce traffic signs free of charge and without having to seek permission, but you must reproduce them accurately and not in a misleading context (e.g. not on roadside billboards where they could mislead drivers). You should also include a statement that these images are Crown copyright.

Please also read the fuller conditions for reproducing legislation. "

So it seems that we are free to use this site.

UK traffic sign collection on Wikipedia Commons

Paul is correct, the terms allow for reproduction. Infact I have already started uploading them to Wikipedia Commons.

You can start using them in this wiki, just enter the name on Commons, e.g.

I am still woring on adding more, just send me a message (preferably at Commons as I might miss it here) and I will be happy to add more.--Svgalbertian 23:28, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Renaming this page

What is the general opinion on renaming this page to match the other United Kingdom pages such as United Kingdom railways etc.? --Jackdpage (talk) 21:35, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

AFAICT all countries use a "Road signs in …" as the page name for this style of page. --GoodClover (a.k.a. Olive, GodClovere, ) (talk) 11:00, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
