Position of guidepost nodes

This page suggests that guidepost nodes are located within the ways. Instead, the page for information=guidepost, starting from revision http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag:information%3Dguidepost&diff=prev&oldid=394643, prescribes that guideposts nodes should be inserted at their exact position, not at the crossroad.
