Exclusion criterion: "no material deliberately added" vs. "not man-made"

The page excludes surface=gravel as a "man-made surface," but gravel occurs naturally: a streamside path on alluvial gravel or a mountain trail on scree is surface=ground in character even though gravel dominates the particle type. A clearer criterion would be: no material has been deliberately added or redistributed — which correctly excludes surface=compacted and surface=fine_gravel (imported aggregate required) while allowing naturally gravelly terrain to remain surface=ground. julcnx (talk) 06:57, 9 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
