Places of Worship

I think in the context of Black Churches this really should be extended to cover a whole host of Places of Worship. I'd take a bet that many mosques, gurdwaras etc are simply not mapped. Bing Streetside is a fairly useful resource for checking & improving mapping accuracy of GNIS imported place of worship nodes. Personally, I've found it quite hard to verify & correct GNIS synagogue nodes (I had a go in Squirrel Hill after the massacre as I spent part of my childhood in the area & until a couple of years ago still had friends there).Given that terrorist attacks have occurred on Black Churches, Synagogues, Gurdwaras and Mosques in North America in the past 10 years, having accurate mapping of locations certainly assists in providing contextual info. In the UK places of worship frequented by minorities are often difficult to find, we've been lucky because the local council publish open data which we've used for specific mapping activities. However, there are still plenty of predominantly black churches who meet in other premises (schools, community centres, or just the facilities of more established churches. Round here mosques may be nothing more than a small house. Gurdwaras often use redundant schools, and, for some reason, Hindu temples are often in former industrial premises. These PoWs are also often more transient as the communities supporting them are not cash rich. SK53 (talk) 20:53, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

This was another experiment, but I was actually looking for the [W] Nacirema Club. SK53 (talk) 21:00, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
