In order to be able to use OpenStreetMap in South America, we must replace this name with "Islas Malvinas". How could I do that? Thanks in advance.

Well, this wiki page has nothing to do with using OpenStreetMap in South America, but with coordinating the work of people mapping the islands. If you are talking about the name on the map instead of the name of this Wiki page, it depends in which language you render the map images. If you create a map with captions in Spanish, the islands will be called "Islas Malvinas", if you use captions in English, they will be calles "Falkland Islands", if you select Arabic you will read "جزر الفولكلاند" and so on. The default name is - as usual - the one used by the people living there, which would be "Falkland Islands". --Lyx 17:43, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
The name has been altered to "Falkland Islands (Malvinas)". Both the 'en' and 'es' names are in the tags correctly for rendering in a specific language, but the common name should by policy be (as Lyx noted) that which is used by those living there. This keeps getting vandalised, however. Mauls 15:55, 2 April 2012 (BST)
Was this name changed back? Shouldn't the UN naming conventions be guiding? http://unstats.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49alpha.htm --Bquast (talk) 10:08, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
