Purpose of this template?

Hi there, what was the idea behind creating this template? It's not in Wiki Syntax (although the original filename suggests it). Can we delete this again? Mmd (talk) 12:04, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

This template is required for the out:custom statement in the overpass-api. It follows the instructions on http://overpass-api.de/template_handling.html. Maybe, I will delete or replace it any time later. --Theway (talk) 19:57, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

This template approach is probably more than 6 years old and never really took off. Nowadays, just use overpass turbo or something else. These days this custom template approach doesn't work anymore, the wiki template files never get stored on the Overpass API server when calling the "fetch" url due to wrong directory permissions. Just try another approach for whatever you're trying to do. Mmd (talk) 20:14, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
