This is a personal user story about the expectations on a future NAVIT version. Not all of that can be realised, but will be taken into account to model a new architecture.

Some thoughts about possible cycle-categories

• Touringbike:

prefer cycleways and smaller streets, prefer smoothness>=intermediate, prefer paved surface (eg. asphalt, concrete, paving_stones) or compacted surface (eg. compacted, gravel), prefer ways, which belong to a route=bicycle-relation, avoid mtb:scale>1 and sac_scale=*

• MTB-beginner:

prefer ways with surfaces like dirt, ground, mud... and smoothness >= bad or very_bad avoid mtb:scale>2 or 3, avoid sac_scale> hiking

• MTB-pro:

same as above, but use all mtb:scale avoid sac_scale>hiking

• CITYbiker:

prefer cycleways and smaller streets, prefer smoothness>=intermediate, prefer paved surface (eg. asphalt, concrete, paving_stones), avoid mtb:scale>=1 and sac_scale=*

• CITY-short:

see above, but more direct routing, prefer all streets usable for bicycle quite equal

• racing bicycle:

prefer paved surface (see Touringbike), prefer smoothness>good, use also bigger roads, like CITY-short
