Hi! I'm Derick and I am a map geek :-)
I mostly map around Kilburn in London where I live, but also frequent the London mapping parties.
I ran for the Foundation/AGM11/Election_to_Board but didn't get elected.
I blog at http://derickrethans.nl, about PHP, technology and OpenStreetMap.
I've written software to visualise mapping party progress by creating a video. It's online at https://github.com/derickr/osm-progress Videos that this tool has created are on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/channels/osm
Year of Edits
On Vimeo, there are also two "year of edits" videos that I have created. The software for this not ready to be published yet, but you can enjoy the videos here:
I've written some tools to convert sources of discrepancies (the ITO world, OS musical chairs and OSM bugs data sets) to Garmin maps. I'll be contributing some more code to this github repository as well.
I collect using pen and paper most of the time, but also use:
Garmin Vista HCx
For collecting GPS traces and also viewing maps and navigating.
For taking pictures and videos of shops.
